Last Saturday afternoon I decided to watch Cloud Atlas.

I admit I haven’t read the book yet, but I enjoyed the movie albeit getting dizzy somewhere in the middle when all the timelines have been lain out.

I have concluded that I shall have a second viewing so I can enjoy that “Shutter Island effect” as I call it – it’s when you notice more minute details during the second (and third, as I’ve done with Shutter Island) viewing. I’ve read some reviews about Cloud Atlas and some did recommend a second viewing in order to grasp the storyline better.

Of course I will not argue that the book is and will always be better, even if I haven’t read it.

Here’s a fanart of Sonmi-451, the clone slave turned goddess. She’s not my favorite character, but I can only imagine how disgusting it must have felt when she realized that the soap she was drinking was made of clones like her.

Should I read the book or not?
